Terms of Service

Last updated September 2026

These terms cover your use of DotCensus during early access. They are written plainly, and where a full agreement is required our enterprise terms and DPA take precedence.

Using DotCensus

DotCensus scans websites you control, presents consent experiences to your visitors, controls which services may run, sends privacy signals to connected platforms and stores evidence of the decisions. You are responsible for configuring it to match the privacy approach you and your advisers have decided on.

It is not legal advice

No software can determine every legal obligation that applies to your business. DotCensus provides technical controls and evidence; it does not certify compliance, and a Privacy Health result is a measure of whether your site behaves as configured — not a legal opinion. Decisions with legal consequences need a qualified adviser.

Scanning

You may scan websites you own or are authorised to test. Scans run against public pages, are rate-limited, and are not security or vulnerability testing. Using the scanner against sites you do not control is a breach of these terms and we will block it.

Early access

During early access, features arrive and change, availability states on the website reflect our honest assessment, and some capabilities are run manually behind the scenes. We will tell you which, rather than letting you assume otherwise.

Your data is yours

Your configuration, inventory and consent evidence belong to you. Structured export exists so that leaving is a supported path rather than a penalty, and so your evidence outlives your subscription.

Availability and liability

The consent runtime is designed to fail safe: under an opt-in configuration a runtime that cannot reach its configuration must not release restricted services. Beyond that, and except where an enterprise agreement says otherwise, the service is provided as-is and our liability is limited to the fees paid.

Changes

Material changes to these terms are notified to account owners before they take effect.
